2020 was a year when COVID-19 delayed many immigration programs than expected. The FT expected an announcement in May, but there was no word until July, and the selection was made on August 6th. The selection made many applicants feel mixed feelings, and it was a week for applicants who were preparing for the FT to consider immigration methods once again.

The big advantage of this selection is that the FST, which used to select 500 people on average, selected 250 people in half, and selected every six months on average, but this time, the selection was made in 10 months. The FST's starting score was slightly higher for each selection, but it was unusual for the FST to have a 58 point increase like this. Last year's selection was in the mid-300s, but this selection was 415 points, making it not much different from other EE-CEC and EE-FSW.

This was the highest possible score among the last seven FST selection scores and was 216 points different from the first half of 2017. Since then, the FST selection scores have continued to rise except for the first half of 2018.

August 6, 2020: 250 starting points: 415 points
[October 16, 2019] Number of invitations issued : 500 / CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 357
[May 15, 2019] Number of invitations issued: 500 / CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 332
[September 24, 2018] Number of invitations issued: 400 / CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 284 [May 30, 2018] Number of invitations issued: 500 / CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 288
[November 1, 2017] Number of invitations issued: 505 / CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 241
[May 26, 2017] Number of invitations issued: 400 /CRS score of lowest-ranked candidate invited: 199

The reason for the sudden reduction in the number of starters is not that there was no COVID-19 effect. Due to COVID-19, there has been no selection of FSW and FST for a while, and fortunately, the selection of FSW and FST was made this time, but it is considered that the number of people who are much lower than the previous ones was selected to limit the number of people.

This trend is expected to continue until COVID-19 subsides, and once the effects of COVID-19 are resolved, the FST advance can be increased again. Due to this selection, there may have been a situation in which we may consider the method of permanent residency once again, but we may look forward to the next selection by improving the English score, academic score, and career score, which is not without a method, because of the lack of scores.

As no new updates or changes have been announced for FST, it is unclear whether there will be another selection this year or next year, but it is always necessary to prepare in advance and maintain the pool registration. The selection score can vary depending on the applicants' scores, so rather than giving up your score because your score is lower than this one, it seems to be a shortcut to immigration by applying first and then continuing to improve your score.

The applicants for this selection should prepare all the documents in 90 days and be fully prepared.
